Hi..
My ocd has been REALLY bad this month and i have been depressed. I spotted for over a week and I know that I need to regulate my hormones. Im hoping once i do so, my ocd will calm down. How do i do that? I hear that the birth control pill makes it worse? anyone have any advice??

Hey Chicky,

I dont have any personal experiences for you but I do know that my coworker has some ovarie problems and she was put on the pill to stop the bulid up of tissues. It doesnt effect her. I cant take the pill as it doesnt do well for me but everyone is different. The pill will regulate your period and hormones which will definitely help the ocd. I get ocd bad a week before my period and I am fairly regular so the pill may help!

I would suggest seeing a gyn. specialist. Also make sure you eat well and take some good viatmins that'll help! Try Sunshine vitamins.

Best of luck!

Please let me know if you find out anything. The pill made my ocd worse, so i came off of it this past month. Reconsidering trying YAZ. My doc provided samples.

I don't know how old you are or if you are in meno. or peri.or just having bad pms. they can effect your life dramatically.
.
I started to has signs of hormonal imbalance a couple of years ago with hotflashes, palp's, dizziness and my anxiety went through the roof. I have tried so hard to regulate and have found if you are in peri it is pretty pointless since your hormones are up and down within hours. Some women do well with BCP or bio's.
I have come to the conclusion I wouold stop obsessing over trying to fix the peri. and take of what I could being anxiety, my breathing, and my diet. Goodluck it is miserable I know

Hi Sunny27, I just turned 37, so peri is a definite possibility. One question, what are bio's?

Oh my gosh, I'm glad to hear I'm not crazy. Not glad others are having the same problems, I just thought I was losing my mind this morning. I was sooo depressed and moody, had my period about a wk ago and I'm spotting. Feel like I have PMS again. I went off birth control pills last summer, thought they were making me moody, but my fiance says I'm no better acting w/o them. I'm going on 39 in a month, now I'm sad thinking it could be the change hitting me. I've been diagonsed with endometriosis so I'm used to bad periods, but in the last couple of years the pain has given away to horrible mood swings with killer pms. Is there a test that can be done to tell if I am? thanks for any advice.

good luck, I do know that when I take birth control pills I have to have ones with more progestrin than estrogen or I'm an emotional mess. I used to take lo-estren, the one they advertise for having the shortest periods.

Let me tell you....I have been through menopause/OCD and can tell you that it is rough. I am 50 years old and I believe I am finally through menopause. For the last 2 years I have been on a hormone replacement patch called Vivelle. My OCD did flair up immensly and of course, you think that your OCD medication quit working. Heaven forbid that it could be something else like hormones or whatever. I am finaly off my hormone patch and my OCD is behaving itself. Of course, I didn't figure my OCD swing until later. Good luck going through this but it does pass!

I was taking apri Birth Control for a few years , stopped cause i was having shortness of breath and heart palpitations which i thought was the pill but it was side effects from celebrex and zelnorm which is now of market. I then started taking lo estrin birth control which i had anxiety attacks before bed for the 10 months i was on it, i felt like i had pms 3 weeks out of the month, so in august i stopped taking the pill, and i was worse than ever. My anxiety got worse and i stared to get depressed. I started taking Yaz at the end off Oct and I must say i am feeling 85% better. This pill and the program have been a life savor.
