Asparagus makes me happy. It really does.

Just eating the stuff, makes me happy. For like 24 hours afterwards. I don't know why. I know it has folic acid in it, which is helpful in depression, apparently - even mentioned in the guidebook. (Though asparagus itself was not. ;) )

So you'd think I'd eat it every day, right? Such a simple way to be happy. Of course I don't. I'd rather be mad and anxious and cranky and... ;) Yeah, I should eat it more often. :D

And it's in season now, so it's cheaper than usual.

Does anyone have a good explanation for why eating asparagus makes me happy?

The root of asparagus has been found beneficial in the treatment of depression. It is highly nutritious and is used as a herbal medicine for mental disorders. It is a good tonic for the brain and nerves. One or two grams of the powder of the dry root of the plant can be taken once daily.
