hi all, I am new to using my computer. My question is this: does depression make you physically feel like you have something really wrong with you because you generally don't feel good? I have had anxiety and depression for years, but this physical feeling I get with fatigue scares me. I have chronic pain due to some kind of autoimmune disorder that affects my primary salivary glands in my face. Don't know anyone who has this. Also my tongue is always red and inflamed and feels like a giant canker sore when I eat certain foods. I have been to ten doctors over ten years and they all say that although I do have autoimmune probs, all my bloodwork is negative for the major immune diseases. Anyway this fatigue and sick feeling I never had even on my worse depression days. Last year I had a week of dizziness and would go to bed on Fri and not get up til Mon. All docs say the autimmune thing is centralized in my glands and not a cause of fatigue. On my worse days I am sure the feelings are from a physical sickness and I get myself really worked up. I just want to know if anyone feels so tired and generally sick from depression as this. Thanks

Congratulations, K-ann on using the computer! The first few tapes in the program do refer to fatigue as a result of both anxiety and depression. But I have not heard of the specific auto-immune systems you have. sorry...

k-ann,
If you read more on these forums, you will see lots of people who ended up in the emergency room because they thought they were having a heart attack. I'm no doctor, but depression can certainly affect your health. I have often worn myself out being anxious and depressed. I've also been a major couch potato from time to time.
You'll find a relaxation tape that I think will help. I use it at night to help me fall asleep. It's easy to become overwhelmed when you're feeling so rotten.
Even if you do have physical problems, you will be surprised to find how much the way you think affects everything you do. You already have doctors who will attend to your body. Now it's time to work on your mind! Maybe then some of the physical symptoms will subside too. Who knows? Welcome to a place where people understand how you feel!
