I'm new (just finishing Session 2) and grateful for this type of forum! Depression has been in our family for generations, from what I've learned about the outward signs it's very possible my father was constantly depressed. My sister was under treatment (without the knowledge of the family) and refused to take prescription medication. She eventually (8 weeks after marrying a man who we later discovered was a closet gay) committed suicide.

Happily, in comparison, my Mom's sunny spirit is usually strong within me. I am finding that my episodes of migraine are more clearly related to the periodic and temporary evaporation of my self esteem and energy level, and thus depression.

Is this type of cycle experienced by anyone?

I am looking forward to the remainder of the sessions, but have spent a majority of my focused time "getting it" as I go along.

This is the perfect time in my life to learn the techniques that will change my responses to situations, etc. I live alone (with a VERY SUPPORTIVE DOG)and although I work a 40 hr J-O-B, I also own a business. I set aside blocks of time for listening and studying.

Are there any tips about getting the most out of the course?

Thanks for any responses!

It depends upon the mood vary of the person to person. Keep ur mind to relax when u feel depress.
