What happens when we are depressed ? We isolate ourselves.
Sometimes we have to gradually get out of our comfort zone.
It is a really scary thing to think about. It is actually a scarier thing to DO.
While I was in the hospital last year I came across an article in a newspaper.
The article was about the many Farmers Markets in my city and the surrounding
cities. I tore the article out of the paper and I kept it. The article seemed
to be just written for me. After I got out of the hospital I decided to read the
article about the Farmers Markets again. Farmers Markets are free to go to.
You don't really HAVE to buy anything, and you can get outside and feel the
fresh air. You can go outside and actually be around PEOPLE. You can go
outside and feel the sunshine. It is a win-win situation !
So one day I decided to go to a Farmers Market. I really enjoyed my short
visit there. It was exactly what I needed ! I DID buy a few items while I
was there. My trip to the Farmers Market was a success story. It got me
out of my apartment and out of my isolation.
If you can just take that first step out your front door, there are some
wonderful free things to do out there. I had not been out among people
for a while, but I got through it okay and I felt so proud of my accomplishment
afterwards.
Look for free things in your city to visit. Parks are free. Libraries are free.
Farmers Markets are free. A lot of Art Festivals are free.
Look online or in your local newspaper.
I know that there is something out there for everyone !
