Stress Center Peer Support

I really liked the session 4 session and will probably replay it several times. My parents are the perfectionist, high expectation type.
long story short, even now with my own family, my parents want to interfere with our decisions as a couple. for example, they want my daughter to attend private school which is very expensive and financially impossible for us. We want to send her to public school. my parents offered to pay half of the private school which at first I said yes but now I am thinking we could use that money toward other bills and house maintenance. I feel like I'm stuck. part of me says its our decision, and part of me says just bite the bullet and keep her in private school.
I attended private school my whole life. there are "bad kids" in private school just like public schools.
thoughts?

I know it's hard to deal with overbearing parents. Session 7 (Assertive Behavior) really helped me to start dealing with my mom, who expects a lot from me. I've started saying no to her and not feeling bad about it. It gets easier with practice.

I attended both private school and public school and while I did receive a stellar education the years that I was in private school, I felt claustrophobic in the environment. You are right, there are "bad kids" in private school and it's harder, I think, because there are only so many students in a private school so it's harder to avoid bad elements. If you were able to afford private school without your parent's assistance and if that is what YOU wanted for your daughter, then I would say go for it. But it really sounds like it's what you want. Plus, if you do accept your parents' financial help they can use that against you to make you feel guilty for not living up to their expectations. It's your daughter, your choice. Do what you want.

I live with my mom, she is so manipulative and needy and I have gotten very sick living with her. She is so toxic and I am trying to not feel guilty about her when I say no. any ideas for saving myself. I know that I am going to give her 6 more months and then I am moving away from her. I hope i make it without much more to deal with. i am obsessing about health problems and she is ill and she is the only one that gets any attention. She is in severe denial about my condition and there is no laughter in this house.
