Hi all,
I began the program about 3 weeks ago. My wife was concerned about some bad thoughts I was having because of the apparent hopelessness of my health and physical situation. I sought professional help, but still had some of these nasty thoughts.
When the program arrived, I am home all day because of my disabilities, I didn't know what it was. My wife told me to try it and it took me a few days to get around to doing that. When I realized what it was and tried to follow the intro and relaxation tape, it irritated me and then it took me 3 or 4 days to call about returning the program. The young lady that responded was so very empathetic and yet logical that I had to try to give this another try. It took me another 3 or 4 days to start with the quick start portion of the program.
Here's what I did: I took notes of the entire quick start course and wrote a personal summary of the course, and found that it helped discover the root causes of my anxiety and depression.
I hope everyone is working the program to help discover their root causes. As I see it, the program is not the cure, but a source of a great deal of knowledge designed to help understand the true and root causes of fearful thinking and help you combat it by supplanting or replacing these thoughts with a strategy of aggressive positive thinking.
The program helps guide you through on these strategies, but you are the one doing the fighting, the program helps equip you for the fight. As I see it, to win in this constant struggle, your arsonal of weapons are:
1) Your mind and intelligence
2) Relaxation Therapy
3) Diet and exercise
4) Positive Self Talk
5) Alternative repositioning of thought processes
6) Peer Support Groups
7) Education
I have excluded medication and alcohol, because we all know we really do not need either of these things, and they come with an added expense that negatively impacts your physical well being.
JS you can and will get better. The first step in the problem is to recognize you have a problem. The next is you want to do something about it. Follow the advice in the program and you will be equipped to conquer these bad feelings of anxiety, panic and depression.
You need to look deeper into the guides in the program to uncover the root causes that are behind these bad feelings. once you can figure out what is really bothering you, you will, through the weapons and disciplines taught in the program know just how to handle each situation.
BTW, I am not affiliated with the stress center, except as a client, just like you, nor am I a trained professional but just some one with a trained eye that needs help and wants something better out of my life; just like you.
JS stick to it, learn from the program, and arm yourself to beat down any problem, even try some other things that may help you. If you are physically able you might come up with a few other ways of beating down some of your bad thoughts.
I am laughing right now as I see myself in a gym, just like when I was younger, with boxing gloves and a punching bag and knocking the stuffing out of the punching bag, my fears and or bad thoughts, just vanishing as I pound the heck out of the bag. Can you hear the theme from Rocky? Drago! You're going down! For those of you with a less violent streak, I recommend some nice relaxation <A HREF="

Take care
