Dentist Panic

Post by LyndaLu » Sat May 10, 2014 5:28 pm

Really, am I the ONLY one that hates going to the dentist !
I am terrified ! And recently my teeth have needed some
more than normal dental work done on them.

About an hour before an appointment I had last year I started
to feel weird. I was participating in a support group
before the appointment and I started to feel weird.
By the time I got to my vehicle after the support group
I realized that I felt short of breath. Then it finally
came to me.....duh, I am having a major panic attack
because I was on my way to the dentists office !
When I got to the dentists office I actually told
the dentist and the dental assistant that I was having
a major panic attack. I felt like I could not swallow.

During another dentist visit this year my palms
were sweating during my entire dental visit !
That has never happened before.....the sweaty
palms.

My dentist and the dental assistants and the
dentist staff are all great people and very
capable and reliable and professional.

I have to see my dentist every three months
now for a cleaning and then the dentist always
finds more cavities ! ( I just found out I have
something called DRY MOUTH too, and that can
cause dental chaos ).

Does anyone else have panic attacks
because of dental or doctor visits or even
medical tests or blood draws ?
