fear of getting stuck in an elevator

Post by taco161 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 8:19 am

one of the biggest fears is getting on an elevator. i'm afraid it will get stuck and I never get out. I try really hard to assure myself Nick that is not going to happen. It's just a scary thought. I made tiny steps where I stepped inside an elevator without closing the doors. my next step is to have the doors close. I don't know if anybody has ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them. Besides use the breathing and relaxation techniques because i do my best to imply that to the elevator situation

Hi, I am a new member and I've been going through fears that have kept me from doing what people would call "simple" tasks for a good long while. Granted, these fears have been intense at times and then sometimes not so intense..which those are the times that the anxiety and panic attacks are at bay. My suggestion, watch others as they get into elevators. See how calm they are. When you manage to get into the elevator and get to the point of taking it, just focus on the people inside the elevator with you. I wouldn't suggest getting on it alone...at least not for a good while...only because you need to be comfortable. Hope this helps
