Evening and Sleep Panic

Post by hanab82 » Tue Jan 07, 2025 4:53 am

I'm actually on week 5 of the program right now and I haven't actually had a full panic attack in over a year thanks to another anxiety program. But something in this session has been bothering me when one of the participants in the audio talks about pulling the blankets over her head and having the panic attack and it goes away. Most of the time I am fine but a few times a month I will get hit with this random evening anxiety. I'll be sitting on the couch and a wave of fear and a sensation of feeling hot will just rush over me and I feel shaky amd nervous. I follow the steps and I keep myself calm and I float and distract myself and usually feel okay by the time I go to bed but as I start to drift off a wave of panic will startle me awake and I will lay there with my heart racing, feeling kind of jittery or something. I again breathe and stay calm, but as soon as I start to drift off it happens again. Over and over. I'm not scared of it, so I don't understand why it doesn't stop happening like they say in the program. I'm just exhausted and want to be able to fall asleep. This happens for a few nights and then I'm able to sleep again. I don't understand why this keeps happening. I hoped working through this program would finally be the thing that fixes it.
