PEACESEEKER: Excellent post, I am a smoker now, to much and trying to slow down. You are right, it must be on your own terms. I have a problem reading non-smokers posts that say its horrible. This is a tough subject for some and those posts make people feel much worse. this is a very controversial subject with many different views, like medication, everyone reacts differently, it is impossible to make a general comment on feelings..Your post was perfect! thanks for sharing!

I've never understood why people who've never smoked feel the need to voice their opinion on something they have no first hand knowledge of. They just assume that every single thing spewed at them by the gov or doctors is true. lol I'll stop before I go off on a rant.
I also don't think there is such a thing as a one size fits all approach/cure to drug use either. Rehab and counselors aren't always the answer. Or the best choice for that matter.
The best thing one can get to help overcome an addiction, is encouragement and support. Not guilt and shame dumped in their laps for past actions or present thoughts. We're all human afterall, and it IS in our nature to seek out pleasure and novelty. Which is initially what the addicition gives the person.
I try to be nothing but understanding and supportive to someone who's trying to better themselves. Being snarky will only discourage one from getting better.

Hi Missy,

thanks for the response. I think we are definitely on the same page! I appreciate your openess, understanding and maturity, I am sure you are proud of your strength and ability to kick the habit! you go girl! I read a quote on the back of a book that stated: "everyone's journey into depression is a unique one and therefore, coming out will be unique to that one as well" something along those lines.. very true!

Please keep in touch and best wishes!

i have had sessions with anxiety over the years ! i am 47 now and had an episode with anxiety in the 80s . after smoking pot . i stopped and was examined by a doctor . that believed it was brought on by the build up of thc . then about ten years later i was very stressed and again used it. ( pot ) for a year or two. and again got the anxiety and agoraphobia . thank god for this program ! it saved my life . it took a bit but by changing my way of thinking . after that i would occasionally have a puff once in a while with no effects for several years iut seems as if when i was smoking it heavily it would build up in my system . bought if it was used occasionally i was ok . heavy use seemed to bring on hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) . that seems to go hand in hand in my opinion with the anxiety disorder .

i was using it again last year for several months quite heavily . my dad was quite ill and it seemed to help my stress and i again got the anxiety feelings. i stopped and used the program . and gradually got better . i believe there is a link between the two ! just my opinion from the research i have done in real life

i hope this helps someone else get things straight ! lucinda is a life saver for me !! :)

You will get to a point, like I did with alcohol
were the benefits of quiting far out weigh the drama of panic attacks caused by continuing to smoke weed. Thats something you`ll have to decide for yourself nobody can change that for you. Or you can wait till the panic gets sooooo bad you`ll have to quit. I`ve been down that road and i`m not tryin to do anything that will bring on anxiety.Thats kinda like jumping off a bridge, you know what the end result will be so why do it  Wish you luck!

hey! i'm a recovering meth addict and in the program for depression. I'd say to stop smokin if you can! Pots so strong these days that a lot of your problems could be coming from that..a bunch of people lace it with many things like pcp sometimes and all kinds of things seriously it's pretty strong these days and know to a pothead thats good news cause i've been in your situation as far as the pot goes but smoking if at all possible i'd say. is any of it parnoia? that'll do it to ya o ya never do meth.! :)
