Panic attack during labor?

This forum is not "parents only", but it does focus on issues about parenting and children.

You will not panic during labor because your doctor will not let you. If you feel any signs of anxiety let your doctor or nurse know and they will give you something to calm you (but you will still be very alert to help with the process of delivery).

Start telling yourself now that: I CAN HANDLE THIS. In truth, you can and you will because you'll have to. It's amazing what we can do when we have to. You'll be so busy with giving birth that your mind will not be on your worries.

I have major panic/anxiety disorder. I did have a panic attack when I went into labour both times around coz I was nervous - but to be honest once you are in active labour the pain is so intense you don't really have any room to panic. You just go with the flow. I promise you that you will be fine...
