Re: HOCD thought I can't shake off...help!

Hey Noelle, This is just your brain trying to scare you. The fact that this thought scares you mean that it's not real, it's not who you really are. You need to know that OCD is a condition where your brain is ADDICTED to scaring itself. It WANTS to obsess. You need to put up a STOP sign over and ov...

Re: Is obsessive thinking a form of OCD?

OCD is a condition that involves lowered seratonin levels in the brain, which makes it harder to put up the STOP sign for the obsessive thinking. ADHD is caused by low dopamine levels. So they're not really related. OCD is a compulsive disorder. So while worry is often a bad habit that we do over an...

When God Uses You

Hey all, I have battled anxiety for about three years now, and have gotten much better over the last year. I have finished the program about three times, and worked with a coach from the Stress Center this last time through. I finished with her about a year ago. My big struggle has always been obses...

Re: New book I am reading

That's awesome! I heard a message similar to that last night - the speaker was saying that God could never love us more than He does right now. Can be hard to grasp if you are struggling with how much God loves you, but if you realize that God's love is perfect and all-consuming, it's a pretty liber...

Re: How Badly has Depression affected or screwed up your Lif

Hi Lynda, Don't get discouraged. Everyone gets stuck at one point or another on a lesson. Keep plugging along! Don't feel like you have to get it perfectly either. If it's perfectionism holding you back, make sure to speak that positive dialogue to yourself. I know for me, sugar is a depressant. I d...

Re: Fear of dropping dead

Hi there! I haven't had many panic attacks with my anxiety, but I can definitely relate to having panicky feelings. I had one panic attack that I KNOW was a panic attack, and I just felt completely stuck in my own head and as if I had been shocked. I also had this fire-feeling in my stomach. It was ...

Re: Seasonal Affective Disorder

Want to add to the seasonal conversation that allergies are incredibly bad this year. They raise your histamine, adding to that general "spacey" feeling that all us anxious people get. So don't be surprised if your anxiety worsens during the spring months, it's almost impossible for it to not affect...

Great job Sunflower! :) That's awesome. I needed to read this today - I have been through the program a few times now, yet I am still struggling with these negative thoughts. I know that I am working against my own brain, like you mentioned, and this takes TIME. It's so important to remind ourselves...

That's awesome!! Great job expressing your feelings!! Doesn't it feel so good to honor yourself like that? So proud of you!! And you did it in a kind, respectful way, that just communicated how you were feeling and kept your expectations realistic for your mom too!! Great job!

Re: Is Anyone Starting Session 4?...Support

That's great that you are improving and can see the improvements! I think that is so key, to congratulate ourselves for even the smallest things, as Lucinda says. I don't do that enough!! I think your positive self-talk also ties into have realistic expectations for yourself - being able to set smal...
