Re: Scary thoughts...one after another after another

Keep working with the program! Session 10 is a great tape to listen to, when you are at that lesson, because you get to hear the other people on the tapes voicing the same feelings that we have! I am learning that the negative to positive dialogue is HUGE. We don't realize it, but that is really wha...

I am going through the course for a second time, and I have not been very good about it recently. Over Christmas I was pretty busy, and didn't make the time to do it. But I am on session 5, ready to move onto 6, so that is good. :) I have the obsessive thinking tape memorized! :P

Hey Adrien, I can definitely relate to what you are saying about self-doubt and what if's. It's crazy how our minds can play with us, isn't it? But like you are learning, we control our thoughts! And even if we have these automatic scary "what if?"s, we can know that they are just brain garbage. The...

I'll be praying for you!!! It's so hard to not just have anxiety, but to also go through something difficult, or in your case, traumatic. I can't imagine. What you said about praying is so true - keep doing it! Keep pressing through to God.

In some of my OCD books they talk about Pure O, or pure obsessionals, with no outward compulsions attached. This sounds very similar, if not the same, as what they talk about on the obsessive thinking tapes. I find that with my pure obsessions (no outward compulsions) there are a lot of inward, ment...

Hey Pauly,
I have not been diagnosed by a professional, although I have been going to see a licenced Christian counselor. It was to the point where "checking" was interfering with my daily functioning, especially at night.

Thank you for your prayers. :)

I had insomnia like this for several months a few years ago. I too would get anxious as the day started to end. I can recommend some things... First, it's good to get outside and get some exercise during the day. Try going on a 30 minute walk. But DON'T exercise within three hours of going to bed. T...

Thank you Paisleegreen for replying, I am so sorry to hear about your son. I think it's important for those of us with scary thoughts to realize that these things scare us, like Lucinda talks about in the program, so that means that we won't act on them. But I do understand your point about being ho...
