Re: New to the Forum but not to the Program

Jon, I know the felling with self-talk repeatedly. There is so much negative fighting back and it gets titing, but it's worth staying the course.

Realizing Depression Has Been A Problem For Me

Since April of 2012, I have been battling anxiety. I went through the program last year and started to go through it again. I got to Lesson 3 and realized how important it is. Between that and cognitive therapy, I am realizing depression is at the roots of my anxiety. I have been in sales for 30 yea...

Only thing I can say is to keep trying, even if there's a period where you haven't done anything, just pick up where you left off.

Hopefully, you have help by now, but I would call the Stress Center and talk to them about it.

I am on Lesson 13 myself and you have to be careful taking off the CD.

Re: Making progress driving

Thank you for your kind words. I've been keeping at it. Anxiety is low level, but I am still tense and I wish I could have a lighter grip on the steering wheel. That's what I want to improve on. I grip the steering wheel so tightly, my hands and fingers can ache or feel tingly.

Making progress driving

I've made good progress with my driving with anxiety: without Xanax. The last two weeks, I've taken drives that have made me anxious. Two weeks ago, I took a drive with the attitiude I can get off at any of the exits on the highway. I made it most of the way by staying on the highway and at the exit...

Re: If I get better, what will I do with my time?

Like you, this is one of my biggest hurdles: anticipatory anxiety. I get wound up with myself, thinking about what is coming. I know the outcome is never as bad as the thoughts leading up to it. I have to believe deep down inside.

Re: Walk All Over Me

You can do it. Use the stuff from Chapter 3 (positive self-talk) and that will help you with assertiveness.
