Re: guilt and grieving

I am amazed by what we have in common. Your son's story hit me hard this morning and I cried off and on all day today. I havn't felt like this in a long time. All day I felt grieved by the pettiness in the world, as you mentioned. I have 4 siblings. 3 of them live in my town and are constantly bicke...

Re: guilt and grieving

I'm so sorry, Paislee. I cannot imagine losing a child. Your story makes me cry. I have 3 grown children and they are the most important people in my life along with my husband. I am amazed by your strength. But as I was sitting hear crying about it, the thought came to my mind," Don't grieve as an ...

Re: guilt and grieving

My brother in law shot himself. It was almost exactly 4 years ago ( August 11th 2007). He suffered from alcoholism and depression. He had been in recovery for many years but then he relapsed and never got sober again. My husband is a recovering alcoholic and has been in recovery for about 25 years. ...

Re: guilt and grieving

Thanks for the reply, Paislee. Are you feeling better ? I hope so. I guess I was impressed by the fact you seem very positive in all of your posts. I know people overcome all sorts of tragedies and still find things to be positive about. I am always interested in discovering the secret to this kind ...

Re: Don't remember ever getting really angry Anyone else rel

Hey Patti, I also used to NEVER get mad. But when I was a young adult in college I felt ALOT of anxiety. With some therapy I started to realize that my headaches, stomach aches and anxiety were probably due to repressed feelings (like anger). As a child my parents fought alot and often vented their ...

Re: assertiveness in a relationship

It's so interesting to read your post, Bunny, because I relate to alot of it. I also read the BOUNDARIES book by Townsend many years ago. It's a great book. I guess it goes without saying that if our parents don't allow us or don't encourage us to speak up when we are children (which many parents do...

Dear Paislee, I've had the pleasure of reading many of your posts. You must have started the program a while back because I see your posts go back a way. I just started the program this past June. I am impressed with your positive input. You always have something good to say. I just read in the abov...

Re: having some generalized anxiety at this point

Yes, that happens to me sometimes. All of a sudden I get to feeling more anxious for no apparent reason. This is what has helped me : I look at what I've been eating and thinking about. Sometimes I've had some sugar and it has affected me that way. Sometimes I've heard something that caused me to ha...

Re: assertiveness in a relationship

I can relate to you fairly well. I grew up in a home where my father was domineering and verbally abusive on occasion. He also drank alot. I am now 57 years old and as I look back over the years I can see that I was attracted for many years toward people who were also domineering and verbally abusiv...
