Re: Habitual Worry

Wow--your question about where my perfectionism comes from really made me think. Do you remember in Session 1 when we were supposed to check which family situations we experienced? Well, my family growing up had several of those. If I had to pick one long-ago root cause, it would be that my mother w...

Re: Habitual Worry

My overall level of anxiety has diminished somewhat, but still intensifies from time to time when a worrisome thought enters my head. I'm still on week 1, so I haven't learned to use a lot of tools yet. What I've been trying to focus on is my behavior DESPITE the way I feel. I had lunch with a colle...

Re: Habitual Worry

I'm so glad to hear you didn't panic when your friend had to warn you about what she was going to tell you--that's awesome, because I know my heart would have sunk into my stomach at that. It sounds from your posts that you're doing really well--do you get anxious at all anymore? I found the website...

Re: Habitual Worry

First, I want to thank you for engaging in this conversation with me--you're encouraging me to think about stuff I may not want to, but in the end, needs to be dealt with if I want to learn to defeat anxiety/depression. I'll admit that when I first tried this program, I began feeling better so quick...

Re: The way i feel!!!

I'm really glad to hear your response. It's a journey (that never goes as fast as you want it to!). This is my second time around dealing with pretty bad anxiety and replied to you to make sure you were considering available help. Good for you for taking those steps--hang in there. I look forward to...

Re: Habitual Worry

I'm lucky to have two really supportive people very close by--my neighbor/good friend and sister. They hang out with me, invite me over, etc., but they're both busy with work and their own lives. Not my caretakers, I have to keep reminding myself. Their company has provided relief, as has exercising...

Re: Habitual Worry

I know EXACTLY what you're going through! I just experienced several weeks of really hard work and anxiety-producing responsibilities at my job, during which my general anxiety level went through the roof. Most of the work stress ended over a week ago, but my anxiety is still sky-high. What I was wo...

Re: The way i feel!!!

It's great that you decided to post--admitting you have this problem is a huge first step. You say you decided you want help. What help have you sought so far? I would encourage you to see your doctor first. I know that for me, it was a relief to know that I had no physical problems. Your doctor may...

Re: Keeping My Mind Present Centered

I'm so glad to read these posts! I'm having some crazy stuff going on at work right now, with my boss telling us all how much harder we'll have to start working, and have been "what if"-ing for a while. My anxiety is pretty bad right now. Constantly reminding myself to live ONLY in the present calms...
