I had this type of therapy done years ago and it was very effective. It seems to work best if there is a specific situation that is causing anxiety or stress on which the EMDR is focused. It desensitized the emotional reaction.

Dervish - Yes it's possible to complete the program and have your thoughts turn to a more positive theme. I would suggest writing down your questions you mentioned in your post and answering them. "What do I need?, What do I want?, What steps can I take to help myself?, What action can I take to all...

You didn't mention if you completed the program just once, or went through it a few times in a row a year ago- ? I actually went through the whole thing three times with the third time being more or less a review, etc. I still refer to parts of it from time to time and it seems each time is for a di...

I always like Richard Simmons and used to use his Sweatin to the Oldies all the time. I liked the fact that he wasn't a skinny 21 year old showing you how to exercise! Ha He's fun and motivational.

Journaling over time will get you to see your themes and patterns, and also shows you what your triggers are for anxiety attacks. Journaling not only negative thoughts but also positive thoughts and events will get you to see that all is not bad or negative and that there are many positive things th...

For me it stopped when I realized that my second guessing was due to constant anxiety and worry. When the anxiety decreased and I knew I was able to handle stress better and I was not afraid of it anymore, my self confidence increased and I started trusting my decisions. I knew at that point that al...

I went off any and all medication I was taking for anxiety at the same time I started this program over a year ago. I have been med free since that time. I was told at one time that I would most probably need meds for anxiety for the rest of my life. They were so very wrong. I'm not against taking m...

This has been such a problem for so many of us I almost think they could use a special topic heading just for insomnia. I know the feeling of being afraid to go to bed because you're afraid you won't sleep. It can be such a combination of things that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint the reason. Stres...
