We are very sensitive indeed. I've been at this for years and I still only watch certain things. If my husband is watching something that bothers me I ask him to change it or go watch it in the other room. It's worth it to me to speak up for myself. I recently watched a movie that I really, really l...

Jen - Is there something good you can find about your mother? Just one thing. It will help you to have compassion for her, for yourself and for your daughter. It will help you to heal faster, and you'll be breaking the cycle.

My best to you.

Hi Dom, It won't hurt you to take the Clonopin when you really need it. That's what it's for. It doesn't sound like you abuse it. Is the recommended dose .25 mg? Now for the information you are really seeking. You are having anxiety. Period. It's not something new. In fact, if you are prone to attac...

I used to have many ocd challeges that I have overcome. I am a sponge and work on putting up that shield of protection to take care of myself. I am a phobic and do exposure therapy which has been fabulous. The results are well worth the hard work.

We have this sentry on guard 24/7 in the beginning - before we start to work on ourselves. Feeling generalized anxiety all day long is not uncommon. This is "normal" for the anxious-personality person. It's safe. It is not harmful and you can still function. So just allow it to be there. Nuture your...

Your therapist would be the best judge of whether or not you are depressed and it sounds like she has confirmed that you are not. YOU CAN BELIEVE HER. That scarevoice is wreaking havoc on your mind and you can tell it to "knock it off". Sometimes we just need a break from that "bugger". Throughout t...

Well, Megan, I'm going to suggest something here and you do this when you can. It doesn't have to be today or tomorrow but only when you feel comfortable doing it. Make it OK to go crazy. It's ok to tell yourself that it's ok to go crazy. Breathe into this and feel those scary feelings that come up ...

Megan - There are many ways to deal with obsessive thinking and one of the ways is to tell "it" to "shut the devil up". It's just your voice. You've heard it repetitiously for a very long time and now it has become a habit. You must not resist anymore. After you tell the thoughts to shut up then get...

Hi Stephanie, Generalized anxiety can contribute to ocd, and ocd can make one anxious. It's a vicious cycle that you can break. I recommend you do not take your pulse anymore NOR your blood pressure. Stop doing that. Just feel the anxiety that you experience by this new action. Do your breath work t...
